I grew up between Moscow and Manhattan — two cities that taught me beauty lives in extremes. By twenty-three I was assisting on fashion shoots for Vogue Russia. By twenty-six I had my own editorial byline. Then a friend asked me to photograph her wedding, and I saw something I'd never seen on a fashion set: two people completely unguarded in front of a lens. I put the Vogue work on hold. I never went back.
I approach every wedding the way I approached every editorial: with a shot list in my head, an eye trained on light and geometry, and zero tolerance for mediocrity.
